"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
Do you recall the account of Mary and Martha in the Bible? Martha was occupied with cooking and serving, while Mary chose to remain seated at Jesus’ feet to listen to Him. Martha voiced her concerns, and Jesus responded that Mary had chosen the better option (Luke 10:38-42).
Being busy often leads us to overlook what truly matters in life. While work serves essential purposes, it does not hold the highest place of importance. At the end of our lives, we won’t wish we had dedicated more time to office work. The things we will regret in life will center around not spending enough time with God and our loved ones.
The Sabbath principle helps us recalibrate. The Sabbath gives us a chance to stop our activities, engage in worship, and reorient our hearts toward God’s main priorities. Putting Him at the center of our lives allows everything else to fall into its proper place.
Reflection Question: Do your life’s priorities match God's intentions, or should you adjust your focus towards what truly holds importance?
Help me, Lord, to concentrate on what is truly important. Guide me to embrace stillness and entrust my time and priorities to You. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
